The mayors and council members of several New Jersey municipalities joined members and friends of the philanthropic group, Impact 100 New Jersey, as Words & Music Company Co-founder Denise Lang-Grant emceed a distinguished panel of journalists to discuss the topic, Use It Or Lose It: The Importance of Local News.

Playing to a standing-room-only crowd in Madison’s Grace Episcopal Church’s Neiman Hall, Lang-Grant and the panel, which included both print and electronic communications icons, explored various solutions to balance today’s loss of local news and, therefore, the voices of the people. She pointed out that while the volume of news has increased, the US has lost more than 1800 newspapers since 2004.
